Our promise
An unexpected beginning
What began as a search for a clean, healthy, non-shedding family dog became a lasting commitment to the Lagotto Romagnolo.
Their intelligence, warm spirit and versatility won us over. Laodicea grew from a desire to thoughtfully introduce more families to this remarkable ancient Italian breed—while helping it develop with confidence, sound health and wonderful temperaments.
How we raise our dogs
At home, never in a kennelA unique breeding program
We believe dogs do best when they are known, loved and included as members of a family. That is why our breeding dogs live in dedicated guardian homes rather than a traditional kennel.
They spend their lives with one family, returning to Laodicea only for whelping and the early weeks of raising puppies. Guardian families stay closely involved throughout—an approach that supports mom, puppies and the people who love them.
One dog. One family. A lifetime of belonging.
Meet the Lagotto
Ancient water retriever, celebrated truffle hunter and deeply loyal companion—the Lagotto is happiest when body, nose and mind all have something meaningful to do.
Lagotti are focused, eager learners who thrive when their minds have a job to do.
Affectionate and loyal, they want to be close to their people and part of everyday life.
A sporting breed with natural agility, a remarkable nose, and a love for purposeful play.

An ancient water dog with roots dating back centuries.
The first weeks matter
Puppies begin life in our home, handled from an early age and gently introduced to the sounds, people and experiences that help build a confident companion.

Family is the whole pointLife with a Lagotto
“Walter has blown us away with how good he is with our three kids. He has been so gentle with them from day one.”— Jana & Ross
A medium-sized, active companion
Low-shedding, woolly double coat
Excellent potential for scent, agility and obedience work
Best with early socialization and daily enrichment
Good to know
A rough, double coat with tight ring-shaped curls and very little shedding.
Keep the coat around 1–1.5 inches and allow its natural curl to lead the look.
Regular coat and ear checks help keep a working Lagotto comfortable and ready to explore.
